The brain-child of Hannah Grenham, a PhD student in Modern History, the Skills Workshops initiative has been running in the School for three years, offering a diverse range of workshops designed by postgraduate tutors. The project not only provides undergraduate students with subject specific skills support, but also gives postgraduates the opportunity to participate in large group teaching and curriculum design.
In 2013/14 the programme was awarded an Enhancement Theme Grant. This academic session the workshops have been rolled out within other Arts schools, under the banner of the ‘Academic Skills Project’, which is managed and supported by CAPOD. In AY 2015/16 the workshops will also be offered in the Sciences. See the Academic Skills Project webpage for more information.
