How to Handle a Primary Source Exercise
This workshop is designed to give students greater understanding of how to approach writing a gobbet or source exercise- integral parts of both first and second semester history courses- and increased confidence when approaching their sources for such assessments.

This workshop is primarily aimed at sub-honours students, but is open to everyone!
It is a repeat of a workshop offered in semester 1.

The ‘real thing’:  Museum and Object Handling Workshop
Want to learn how to use museum collections for your
historical research?  Interested in a career in heritage or museums?

In this exciting new workshop you will learn how to conduct historical research
using objects rather than text sources. Donning white gloves, we will
use artefacts from the university’s museum collections to practice
some basic object handling and learn how to ‘read’ an object to glean
information from it. We will also discuss how to use museum catalogues
and how you might apply this to your own essay or dissertation
research.

This workshop might be most relevant to honours students, but is open to all history students!

When?  15:00 Wednesday 4th March
Where?  Old Class Library, St John’s House
